I keep my piggys in a seperate room to the chinchillas but at the weekend we took in 6 new chinchillas, so two of the cages had to be housed in the piggy room while i made space elsewhere.
This morning id been playing with two of the younger chinnys that came in, two violet brothers...cheeky and curious little things (just a few months old)
anyhow they stayed out playing while i did my 'piggy' rounds....topping up food and hay, spot cleaning and water changes.
i realised id left my watering can in the kitchen just a few steps away..i go to retrieve it and come back to this.....i know i shouldnt have took a picture but i couldnt resist...

(if i stand like this maybe she wont notice.........)

so moral of the story? never trust a chinchilla with an open piggy cage.....especially at feeding time!

Thats hilarious. :)) It made by laugh so much. Animals are such a joy. You can be having a rubbish day and they do something like this and it makes you chuckle for hours. Thanks for the pictures. Great.:))

Ah brilliant! Like they're really trying to blend in until they click that you've noticed! Great photos! :)

Ah, he fits right in! :))

What temperament do chinchillas have?

depends on the chinchilla...i have two that HATE being held or picked up, but others who will not hesitate to jump all over you while your trying to watch tv, and cuddle up under your chin, theres another who loves to tease the cat, he will chase her until she runs off (and he's half the size of the cat)

on the whole though if handled right from the start, they are really laid back animals... :)

Love it - fabulous pictures, and I love your little commentary - oh yes, and all the furries are gorgeous too - that first picture is just so funny.

Awww they are gorgeous! i would take a photo too and not that id trust two different species together but they look so cuddly with one anotherx)
I love chins i hate that we cant get them in oz id love to meet some one day;)

very funny! The only chinchilla i had was a rescue who must have been badly treated as she did not enjoy human company, did not like being held, would pee at you as a form of defence, never bit though - loved jumping up and down the stairs! RIP chee chee

chinchillas are fantastic creatures i must admit..we have 13 here at the moment (we've just rehomed two to a lovely couple but I'm regretting it as i miss them already) they each have such different personalities!

Great photos, the chins look really cheeky. I think you will have your hands full with them. I love the dog eared one! xx

yeah apparantly he was attacked by his father when his mother came back into season :(
nope they are both violets :) (bad lighting)
i have a few beiges here, as well as a pinkwhite, standard greys and a possible pastel chin.

shall toddle off and pull some photos from pb :)

have popped some chinny pics under 'other pets' for anyone whos interested at the others :)
