For a while now I have noticed that the skin behind one of my guinea's ear is irriated and resembles a scab. I haven't been too woried because it didn't seem to bother her at all. I bought some Kwench lotion for it from Goregeous Guineas and have been applying it and it seems the scab is starting to come off, but that is also causing red, irriated skin to appear. I'll attach pictures of both her ears because the other one seems to be affected also.

hi , the first pic looks as though it is infected (fungle? ) l realy dont think gg is going to shift that! it were my pig l
would get her to the vet . and get propper meds.
a great all round anti fungal, anti parasitic is Suralan. (vet script only ) l have used this for years and it has never failed to shift somthing
like that

Please see a vet for a proper diagnosis and do not home treat on spec; you can make things easily worse then better by under-treating or treating for the wrong thing. As you have already applied stuff, a diagnosis is much more difficult already and needs to be in the hands of somebody who can have a full look at your piggy and give you stronger stuff than Gorgeous Guineas, which is not appropriate for full-blown fungal, sorry.

I will defninetly be taking her to the vet asap. I try to avoid going to the vet as much as I can because I am only 14 and the pigs are my responsibility and my parents sadly do not think they need medical care, a big enclosure, and veggies everyday. They just think I am spoiling them. My mom is a little more willing so I will see if she can take them. Thanks for everything!

Just a quick little followup, I took her into the vet and the vet said it looks like she has gotten a scratch or something from her cage mate and she has been scratching at it. She gave me some topical cream to heal it up nicely.

Hi, would you mind if I used the two comparative pictures for my book on guinea pig care? They would be very helpful to show people what a normal ear is like and what an abnormal ear is like.
If that's okay please send to [email protected] and let me know if you want to have your name under the photo :)

Only if you want to ;)

Hope that your beautiful guinea gets better soon
