Hi guys,

Its been a while since I posted here. But our guineas are due a new cage. The three of them are currently in a 4x2 which was OK when we could use the loft. Sadly I think one of our pigs has got a bad back so she refuses to use the ramp any more. When winter hits we basically over provide hay to keep them snuggly warm but with an ex starter cage at one end of the cage stuffed with hay it's just way too small for them.

Now that renovations are done in our flat we can finally expand for them. The hubby wants a 5x2 but I'm tempted by a 6x2 in order to make up for the lack of space the last 2 years. It also fits perfectly into the gap we have set aside for them. I think I can convince him but wanted to ask:

Is 6x2 a pain? Do you have to make 2 pieces and join them in the middle? Can you get hold of fleece liners at that size. I just worry that getting stuff for that size might be a pain. Don't want to commit if I'm wrong. You know what spouses can be like if you make the wrong decisions. Lol.

Do you mean two pieces of correx? You should be able to make one large piece. As for liners, they’re available I. That size. You could always use just a waterproof layer then fleece on top. I’d go for bigger if you can.

Sorry yes I did mean correx. They live in a 4x2 c&c with a loft at the moment. Just realise I haven't been super clear with what I was talking about. Doh!

I buy correx the size I want.
It can be joined together - I’ve done that to make an L shaped cage for mine

How have you joined them Merabs? We did get some duct tape initially but it was pretty rubbish and didn't stick to the correx very well!

I agree with the above poster.6x2 cage is easy to maintain,as less waste is created over a bigger area.you can get 6x2 liners,i have far too many in lots of sizes.i like zorb liners, C and e cozies do zorb liners in the uk.it is an investment,so ensure you try this method before purchase.these liners absorb urine quickly, less bulky, and dry very quickly.

The usual size of the biggest sheet of correx is big enough for a 6*2. (I bought mine online from the Aluminium Shop). When I made my 5*3, I cut about one grid width off the end to make my base including sides about 3" deep all round.

I use c and e too. They are much better than the heavy towelling liners. Pretty sure I almost broke my washing machine washing them when they went on spin before I found c and e.
