I have a hutch which my father in law made a long time ago. It's 6foot but 2 foot though seems a lot bigger than that. It is really solid as he is a carpenter, it is lovely.

Anyway do you think 5 guinea pigs would be okay in it?

It's usually 4' x 2' for 2 pigs and then an extra foot for every additional pig... so for 5 it should be 7'x 2' or equivalent. I've got a big 6'ish outdoor hutch and I've had 5 piggies in it but my pigs are quite large and I ended up splitting them into 2 hutches.

I have a similar sized hutch for my gang of 6 which we keep in the shed and is used for their summer quarters. I have rigged up a C&C run off the front of it so that during the daytime they can come and go as they please and obviously in the summer they are also out in runs on the grass. I put in a couple of wooden houses with flat roofs and these, side by side, act like a shelf and several piggies can often be found asleep together on top of them!:)
