With the arrival of Minty the rabbit, I am thinking of letting him have the guinea's old run and getting them a bigger one.

What is your opinion of buying a second hand run? Obviously they seem better value but am I risking the piggies' health, if, say, an infected animal had inhabited the run? Is it possible to disinfect or spray to destroy infection/disease just in case?

Or do you think if a run has been unused for a time any germs cease to inhabit it? I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone help me?

I cannot see a problem in getting a second hand one. Give it a good scrub ;) and a coat of varnish and it will be as good as new :)

Agree, I got a secondhand hutch for my two (though they dont use it now) and I scrubbed it and used a good disinfectant and it was fine :)

Wouldn't worry about it at all.
Just give it a good clean with a disinfect and it'll be fine!
Our run was second hand as well...had no problems at all!

We got a 2nd hand run for our two and have had no probs! It was a total bargain, got it for £15 when they cost £50 new in P@H.

We got ours on ebay. Also, if you have a local rescue centre they will make you one up at a reduced cost. Our rescue centre offered to do this for us, but we found the one on ebay in time...
