Hi all, I know I'm completely biased, but I'm just so in love with my new baby sow, Coco, that I had to tell you all (OH just doesn't get it, and glazes over whenever I go on about her!)

Not only is she the prettiest little girl I've ever seen, but she also has the sweetest temperament.

She's only about 10 weeks old, and when we bought her (from a pet shop......I know, I know....")) she had a whole heap of abscesses in her neck, and even after three vets visits, several abscess-lancings, painful squeezings/flushings and twice daily antibiotics, she's still utterly trusting, friendly and inquisitive.

I've read a few times about guinea pigs tweeting/chirruping like a bird (apparently it's very rare), but Coco does it loads! It's not wheeking, it's definite chirruping, and, although it's lovely, it's quite ear-splitting actually!

She absolutely loves having a cuddle, and will sit as good as gold just licking my hands and fingers.

Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest - I'm just amazed every day at how confident, trusting, inquisitive, forgiving and sweet she is for such a young sow. x)

She is gorgeous! She most probably understands that you only put her through the treatment to help her and make her better! x

Coco is beautifuldrooldrool ive only heard two of my piggies chirp and it is an exquisite sound..

Thanks guys.....she is yummy, isn't she? I know I'm very biased though so feel free to ignore my opinions! rolleyes

The chirruping really is a lovely sound, but she has quite a voice for such a little bit! When she starts wheeking - chirruping - wheeking - chirruping (normally when one of the boys is having floor time), we certainly know about it! LOL!

How does your piggie chirrup, Farquhar? Coco chirrups on two different notes, just like a bird, up and down.

She is beautiful x) x) and sounds like a very special little girl.

I've only heard one of our piggies chirp twice in 5 years, it really is a unique sound, your very lucky to hear it so often!

I hope that her medical problems are behind her, how is her friend that you got with her? Sorry - I can't remember her name but remember she was a black piggie....

Hi sport_billy, the other baby sow is called Darklis.

She's absolutely lovely as well, so pretty, jet black with lots of ginger splashes and the most gorgeous eyes!

She seems to have really settled in well and she's most definitely thriving (I'm convinced she eats her entire bodyweight in grub every day!), but, despite daily quiet handling, she's still very reserved and quite nervous.

Darklis is a million times more friendly and trusting than Pudding & Squeak were as babies, though, adn I know it's very early days, but compared to bold-as-brass Coco, she's quite introverted and timid.

Coco has a check up at the vets again this evening, so, fingers crossed, all will be well.....my own non-expert opinion is that the abscesses are almost 100% cleared up (I certainly can't feel very much going on there, but then I'm no vet).

She is a gorgeous girl! I hope that she is clear of all the abscesses soon and can go on to enjoy a pampered life!

Thanks everyone! Non piggie slaves just don't get it, do they?

Good news from the vet - abscesses are all cleared up! I didn't take her myself (I'd double-booked myself, so my OH took her), but apparently the vet was over the moon with how well she was doing.....she's put on 200g in the past two weeks (greedy little piggy!).....all is healing up brilliantly.....and she said she couldn't believe how well it had all gone.

The vet told OH she was convinced she'd have to take Coco in to surgically remove the abscesses, but she was very pleasantly surprised to find that she didn't!

I have to finish off the little bit of antibiotics I still have at home (probably 2 days worth at most) and that's that, all clear!

So now we only have the imminent introduction to her new boyfriend (Squeak) to worry about....lol!
