Hi all again, for those of you who don't know I had 4 wonderful guinea babies heartbreakingly Toby passed away just before Christmas at only 5 months 💙 The three lived as a trio until 21st January when I moved Charlie from under a hidey and he ran into where Cookie was and a second later Cookie runs out whimpering and bleeding by his eye, Cookie got bitten and heartbreak again he lost his eye prior to this the two had never so much as bickered if anything it was Cookie chasing Willow mostly I always think that it was just a genuine accident I didn't actually see it happen of course. Anyway I'm rambling now sorry, since then Cookie has been living side by side the other two but it feels unfair I'm sure I've annoyed some on here and I can only apologise for asking again but I really don't know whether to try and bond Cookie with another friend. 😔 I just want them all to be happy 💙

He will be absolutely fine living side by side but you can of course get him another friend if you want to.

It would just be best k go to a rescue centre and try boar dating to find him a new friend

Hi!
As you know our two boys are living side by side & are content doing so.
We still get rumble offs at the bars, and they seem to enjoy their “chats”!

Dating at a rescue is the best possible way to find a new piggy friend, but you would also need to have a plan B for if it didn’t work out. Would you keep them side by side, ( 3 separate piggy homes)or return a new piggy to the rescue? Just posing a question, that you have probably already considered.

I think a lot depends on your circumstances. I always said 2 guinea pigs was our limit.
We currently have 2 foster pigs we are caring for and it has definitely brought home to me that 4 piggies long term is not sustainable for us/ me as main piggy carer.

Morning yes that is so true I look at the room they have now and it's a lot. The thing that make me sad as such are that Cookie seems to always be at the bars looking through Charlie completely ignores him Willow will sometimes interact as such with him and Cookie will sometimes run to the different areas he can get to to be closer to them, although admittedly when Charlie and Willow have little disagreements over hidey or the last pieve of veg I'll often say to Cookie see sweetheart at least you can do what you want without hassle. 💙

Don’t forget, interaction is a lot more than just looking at each other. It’s things which you won’t even be able to pick up on namely scent. Body language is also key

True, true. Thank you so much💙

From what I have read, the ultimate question is…..
Would you like another guinea pig?
Then…. Do you have enough time/vet money for another? Are you happy to try dating with Cookie.
I suspect these are all questions you have already thought about.

He sounds content & has enough piggy company. Perhaps give him and you some more time to think about it. You don’t have find him a friend urgently, he has his friends through the bars.

I think Cookie will be fine as a side by side neighbour. I would give both of you a little time to think things through and for Cookie’s eye area to fully mend. There will always be some piggie out there for Cookie x
