Biscuit the Boar weighs in at 3lb (1.5kg) is he exceptionally big?
The others weigh between 2.1-2.3lb (females and Crackers the Boar)..:))

Yeah thats quite a big over weight. Boars are usually between about 1kg and 1200kg

Midge one of my older girls weighs in at 1.37kg shes not fat just a large girl. Our smallest girl -Paprika weighs in at a small 907g so I'm presuming just like the people that look after them there is a wide range of weights. Midge has a very good appetite a large cage to live in and at least 6hrs of floor time each day.

Your boar is certainly a biggie! However, as guinea pigs can weigh anything between 800g and 1800g and STILL be in the normal range, overweight comes only into play if he is truly fat and doesn't move much.

The average weight of most adult guinea pigs is about 900-1400g.

You might find Laura's thread about weighing and overweight in our reference section very interesting.

He isn't actually fat, he's a very large guinea pig, and quite lean.. I weighed them all tonight as I'm treating them for mites.. no one has bald patches, but I saw a couple on Liquorice the other night, and they were defo alive, I could see them moving............................. He's a very active guinea, who can even get out of the cage when I open the door, and put himself away...... Yep, clever too :)

you need to look at his body score rather than his actaul weigh, a said before, he might just be a big boy. So long as hes not overweight, no huge belly, able to run and popcorn about normally it sounds like hes ok. If your worried, maybe cut down on the pellets/dry mix (whatever equivalent you feed) and give him more hay/forage.

He sounds like a cute guy to me.

xx.

I think my Terry weighs in just under that and the vet said he was fine as he's just a 'big boy'. Very active, I have plenty of videos of him running around my bedroom like a loon.

He loves his hay, between him and Crackers the can devour quite a lot over night... I cleaned them out last night and gave them a new deep bed of hay.. they ate the lot!

We have a couple of piggies that size. One of them is fat, (Sorry Mac, but you are) the other isn't. Randal is very very long. He has a pointy nose too and looks more like a ferret. And yesterday while Linda was drying him after his bath he kept leaping up onto her shoulder. Huge jumps, he is an amazing boy! But most piggies that weight are fat. But then guineas are so very talented at eating....
