Hi, I have had one of my piggies since a baby and now he's 4 he acts and looks quite old. Impaction, pea eye, he was black but now grey. Quite slow, never popcorns. However he's happy and maintains his weight. I got him a friend when his cage mate died and was told by the local rescue he was the same age as mine. However he seems such a baby, really vocal, really shiny coat, little thin pointy nails and he jumps up my house stairs and popcorns lots. I can't believe they're the same age but the rescue had no reason to fib. She'd had him as a baby, but then he'd been given back so she had a good idea of his age.
Could my old man still have lots of life left in him? Could my new boy really be 4.5yrs old?
Thanks

Sadly there's no way to know how old piggies are. Just like us humans they're all different, and I guess they age differently too. Would love to see pics of your boys they sound lovely.

Guinea pigs nails go curly and thick when in senior years. I don't know about all the time. But 2 of my 6band 7 year olds did. Even when trimmed
