Edie has had what I thought was mites since I got her in 2010. I have treated her for it with gorgeous guineas manuka and neem shampoo and melt for skin problems (these treat mites and fungal) I treat all the guinea-pigs and clean the hutch, wash the hutch and then disenfect it too, including everything in the hutch. It's now come back again and I'm not sure why it keeps coming back, she only ever had one or two scabs on her when she had mites and lots of bald patches too, but now it looks like her hair is just thinning. Willow has started to get this too but Marmalade has never had scabs or hair loss or any signs of mites, even though she lives with Edie and Willow. I'm now beginning to wonder if it could be an allergy or something, because the shampoo doesn't seem to be doing anything for very long (everything I notice the hair loss and scabs I treat them for mites again but I don't know how it can keep coming back because I clean everything) Edie definetly has it worse than Willow but neither of them seem too bothered by it, they don't scratch very much. They are both longhaired and Edie is 3 and Willow is 8 months old.
I've tried changing the bedding to something else to see if it makes a difference but it doesn't.

If you have not treated with Ivermectin it's likely that it is skin parasites causing the problem.

If you only have a couple of pigs Xeno 450 is suitable, I can't recommend any other maker's product as they are often too diluted to be effective.

If you have more than 2 piggies I recommend Easimec as it is far more cost effective and very effective against parasites.
