HAve a double decker hutch with underneath Run or underneath floor? Animals may dig in, bunnies may dig out?

I would have a double decker with an underneath floor and another run attached... A hutch that size is not big enough for a rabbit to live in day in day out... They need a run IMO at least 5-6ft inlength, 4ft in width and over 2ft in height so they can jump about ... :)

Jane, how do you know what size hutch the OP was asking about?

Double decker huitches come upto 6ft in length but the usual sizes are 4ft-5ft in the shops and on ebay etc...

Unless the OP is getting over 6ft then you can hazard a guess... I have rabbits you see... Anything upto 6ft is ok for a bunny but they need space to run... A double tier hutch with a run on the bottom floor is only the size of the hutch which is usually 4ft x 2ft in most shops which is not adequate for a bunny to be in 24/7...

Hope that answers your query...

If Jackmylad considers a hutch with a large run underneath then you get enough space for one bun... I have two rescue bunnies that came in a hutch that was 4ftx2ft ontop of a run which was 4ft x4ft with a ladder going underneath to the run... That was too small for them so they now live in a wendyhouse with a 6ft x 5ft run attached...

It has a large run but i was more concerened about the digging in and out, would this happen

But thanks for answers :)

Have you thougth about popping them on concrete? and having a run with a cover that you can pop them on the grass in when you are around?

Mine have been on concrete since i have had them because the garden wasnt ready but now it is they are still on part concrete and part grass now...

Our bunnies are also housed over concrete but do spend time on the grass it just seemed the safest option and it keeps their claws down,

I have two Netherland dwarf rabbits and this is the set up they have. They both have a double decker hutch each with a run that they can use all day - we open their cages at 7ish in the morning but shut them in about 10.30 at night so foxes won't get them. We used to have them on grass but they started digging huge holes so we now have them on concrete paving slabs and I put hay in the run for them so they can sit in that.
