Rosie is my only smooth coated guinea pig.

Second pic shows her with her sister, Cherry bottom. Then there is her good friend Primrose (rip) who was pretty smooth too.

I must do a shout out to all the forum skinny pigs you are the minority. But all for good reasons👍

@SkyPipDotBernie he's about 18 months although we don't know his exact age. His full name is Prince Caspian due to his crown, he had to have a C name as he has a C marking on his face. My partner and I are both Narnia fans! He came to us aged about 6 months after having a respitory infection as a baby that has caused some permanent damage. I already had a nebuliser for another sick piggy and am retired so can spare the time if needed to nurse him. He is a small boar hovering around 1 killo so looks young. Despite his occasional breathing problems he's very active spending most of the day when we are at home running (he gallops!) around the house so he stays really fit. We love him to bits so sorry but you can't have him. Some Caspy spam just for you.

He is eye candy.

Interesting what you put about the permanent damage. I rescued a boar from my wifes primary school who ended up diagnosed with permanent damage somewhere in his nose. He had a constant runny nose and a runny right side eye. He lived to be 6 , and i think he waa around 2 when i first had him. He would have lived longer if it wasnt for 3 bladder stones.

Antibitoic( cant remember the type) used to stop all of his symptoms, but then after the course it would always come back.

I didnt know the cat and rabbit care clinic back then. Not until the stones appeared and simon said he couldnt operate because of the stone location.

Caspy has narrowed airways so any dust inhaled sounds awful, he's like a human baby with croup. I bed him on fleece and buy quality dust free hay and we are going along okay. Most of the time he'll give a couple of coughs and be alright again but the nebuliser is there if we need it.
I've lost 2 youngsters to stones they are a nightmare. I'm learning to stop worrying, what will be will be. My piggies get the best diet they can, double filtered water lots of exercise, love and vet care. They live life to the full I can do no more. Now :btt:

Rusty - semi long hair smooth cross

I have been watching saskias guinea pigs lately, and she has said she has found a some info on uppong calcium intake to avoid stones, aswell as hydration and avoiding vit c supplements and avoiding foods high in oxilates. She has never had a permanent resident rescue pig with stones and she never worrys about lowering calcium. Interesting

Too little calcium can cause stones as can too much vit c. They, as we need everything in balance! Renal specialists (human) tell all their stone patients (I'm one) their mantra should be drink, drink, drink, so it figures it would be the same for piggies. My older pair who both get thick sludgey wee are on syringed fluids daily, interestingly they don't seem to be at the water bottle any less than before I started this on vets advice. I would never do anything without the vets say so, every pig and situation is different.
