When she squeaks for food. She coughs. But doesnt always happen.

Is it normal for them to cough the odd time?

Occasionally if they eat too fast mine will give a sort of sneezy cough.

Keep an eye on it though and if you are concerned go to the vet.

Think my piggys are dodgy lol.

Eye poke. Abcest. Now a cough arhh

My Little Dude is a greedy wee thing, and he often gives a wee cough when he rushes to get more than the other two. I think it's the cutest noise, but I'm strange

Sounds as if their goal in life is to cause you as much stress as possible!

Lol no stress just expensive. But I would do anything for them there cool.

Would anyone know how much a operation would be to get rid of the abcest at the vets roughly

I’ve just paid about £170 for an abscess removal.
That included the pre - op check and 2 follow up checks.
I wasn’t charged for any of the initial meds but did pay extra for top up pain relief and critical care.

Problem is. Its coming upto Xmas. And we have already paid for vet bills for both of them.

Have to wait and see what the vets say on Monday

Not a piggy but my chinchilla costs roughly the same for appts, meds etc.
His abscess behind his eye and removal of the eye has cost me around £380.
For first appts and meds (antibiotics, metacam etc) at local vets around £130. Then the operation at Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic, meds and syringes, needles and post op check around £250.
Can depend where the abscess is etc but can get very expensive! My chin cost more due to his eye needing to be removed.
I've also had travel costs of £100 ish but had to take him to the best vets i could!

From I posted this. My piggy hasn't coughed.

But this morning when giving her food she began squeaking and coughed a little.

She doesn't sound ill and is eating fine and only seems to cough when she gets excited about food.

Think this normal?

The vet said if she isn't coughing threw out the day it isn't anything to worrie about aswell.

Primrose sometimes coughs/chokes if she's eating too quickly - it seems like a common thing for guinea pigs to do! If the cough only occasionally appears and it's round food time, and she isn't coughing throughout the day, then I don't think it sounds too worrying.

Sounds like a piggy living up to its name.
They are greedy little creatures and do cough if they eat too fast.
Your vet’s advice is good

I'm not an expert but I would have thought your piggy is fine. Check with the vet though, l have 2 that cough, it's just that they get so exited about dinner. Lol
