is it normal?

is it normal for my two new girlies to run away all the time? i get them out of the cage and my sister ones runs away straight off so i basically have to dive for it. my one is more sneaky, it waits for the other one to go and shoots off. what can i do?

yes it is. it takes a while for guinea pigs to get used to being handled; imagine how you must look to them height-wise and you might understand why they get skittish.
be patient with them, use fresh fruit and veg when you're handling them to calm them down and try to approach them from a similar level to them.

Yes its not unusual especially if they are very new to you. Make sure you handle them lots and talk to them so they get used to your voice. There are lots of threads giving advice on how to hold and pick up your piggies.

They will get better with time

Mine run like the wind when I try to pick them up as they are still getting used to me. Just be patient and handle them often giving them nice treats when you do and in time they will get used to you

I have had mine for over a year or so and they still run away from me, sometimes I only have to go up to the hutch and they run away from me - I always think that they dont like me
