would it be possible to cut out the pellets and just feed hay and veggies?

Is there any reason you want to cut out pellets?

I feed 75% hay, 20% veggies & 5% pellets. This way the pigs get plenty of hay for their teeth & digestive function & the essential nutrients get topped up by the pellets. At least I know they are getting their vitamin C this way.

I know some people who do this but I prefer to give a few pellets as long as they dont make up a big percentage of their diet. Shiny's percentages above are pretty much bang on as a guide to what they should be eating.
We have a piggie that suffers with wet poo's and when we had to take her off veg for a week we relied heavily on the pellets for Vit C content... She can still only have a minimal amount of veg a day so I know that the pellets are there to help her out.

mine have pellets, hay and lots of veggies. I use pellets just as a sort of back up, in case they feel peckish when I am not there!

I wouldn't consider not feeding pellets at all. I would be concerned about them not getting all the essential nutrients they need.

I find it's good for keeping the teeth down and a stable vit C supplement. I wouldnt cut it out personally unless your brand is quite rich and the pigs need a serious diet.

Thanks for the advice, theres no reason in particular, just that i have 6 piggies living together and they all eat different percentages of pellets and hay. so i thought if i could cut them out and still be providing the right nutrients with the hay and veggies then i could be sure they are all getting what they need

I think it would be really hard to be sure you were getting all the right vitamins in without pellets. It would be a shame to risk vitamin C deficiency.
