I had gotten a rescue from my local paper (didn't have guinea pigs for awhile always had more than one) I wanted to make sure it was healthy. Before getting a friend for her. But she refused to eat. After I got a friend the next day. An showed her she wasn't the only pig. She ran straight for the food an water. An started pigging them down.

It is totally possible for pigs to not eat of drink from loneliness caused depression, in rare/extreme cases, some can even die of it. Guinea pigs look to their herd members to make sure everything is okay, when there isn't any other pig, they think something is wrong and therefore don't eat. It is fantastic that you now have another pig!
