I was wondering if it was possible to bond my 7 month old pig, Ozzy with my 1 year old skinny Gus? Gus and Ozzy are both indoor pigs and I think they're both lonely.
I let them have a bit of floor time together, there was about 5 minutes of awkward staring at each other in silence, then Ozzy was grooming Gus and Gus was trying to get under Ozzys hair (so cute) but then they started being a bit dominant, slowly circling each other and rumbling, then Gus tried to pee on Ozzy 😬
Do you think it would be possible to bond them? They are both un neutered.

I assume they’re both boys? You can try bonding them. A neutral place for them to be and clean out the cage so it holds no smells of either of them. If you don’t, please don’t do put them together at playtime. It stresses them out to be put together then separated.

Are you asking because it is a skinny pig and a furry pig or just for bonding in general? My skinny pig Jasmine lives with one of my furries, Anna. They are really good together, now that it is getting colder (they are indoor piggies but it is still a little colder in the house too) I find them cuddled together under their fleece all the time. Anna likes Jasmine’s extra body heat and Jasmine likes some soft fur to cuddle up to :) good luck with your boys, I hope they enjoy each other’s differences like Anna and Jasmine do!

If you are going to try to bond them (which sounds positive so far) please don't do playdates and then separate as they have to start from scratch each time which is stressful for them. Pick a day when you have hours available to watch over them

I let Gus and Ozzy spend some more time together today after reading all the bonding guides on the forum. I put down loads of Spring greens. For a while they ate the greens and then they started rumbling and sniffing each other. They were also going off exploring on there own. Every now and then they would see each other and start rumbling, circling and chinning each other. This went on for a while but then they started snapping at each other and spinning round fast. Gus was standing right up so he was really tall and lunging at Ozzy and nipping him. I was letting them get on with it and I was ready to grab them if they started proper fighting. They kept lunging at each other, spinning round, squeaking, rumbling and nipping. One of them kept hissing, no idea what that was? Eventually my nerves got the better of me so I put them away.
Is this normal bonding behaviour?
Should I try again tomorrow?
Is there any chance of them bonding?

Was the hissing from the skinny pig? Mine did that when I tried to bond her with Kristoff. It kind of sounds like a puff of air. None of my other piggies do it. I’m sorry but it sounds like they might not like each other. That is just my opinion and I am no expert.

I agree, It sounds like it might be heading towards being aggressive with the lunging etc and that they won’t bond.
If you choose to try again then you need to leave them together until it is very clear that they either get on or they don’t. The thing is now that they have been together and then separated is that they will need to start right back at the beginning if you do choose to try again.

Being both un neutered makes no difference in guinea pigs 👍 neutering is normally done to stop sows getting pregnant. Oh and on the floor time, you do realise everything has to be new to both pigs, no scent on anything from either of them

I'm pretty sure it was the skinny, and it did sound more like a puff of air :tu:

That’s so funny, it must be a skinny pig thing. It’s kind of funny, Jasmine did it at me a few times when I first got her. It was like she was just so frustrated with me that she didn’t know what to do so she did that
