We have a 4+ spayed female who has never been with a male (vaginal seal in tact) were due to introduce her and her cage mate a 2 year old femail who has previously had pups who is still in tact with our 8 month old neutered male next week, they have been living side by side for a few days now and there getting on well which is positive.
We want to make sure that our older pig will be safe with him as we're guessing he will be mounting them both quite a lot and with her age & being a vergin is there any health issue or anything we should be looking out for to help keep her safe and healthy?

Thank you

You may find the young boar gets into quite a bit of trouble from the older pig as he's neutered you have no threat of babies. I find a boar and sow/sows can be a very good combination provided your older sow accepts him.

When doing the introduction ensure they have a nice big open space which is neutral, tasty treats and plenty of hay. Don't give them any houses which may allow someone to get cornered and go from there. Good Luck, hope it goes well.

Please make sure that the neutered boar is 6 weeks past his neutering operation. I have got the surprise daughter from a supposedly safe over 5 weeks post op boar (not one of mine) and have heard of more cases. So far, I have yet to hear of an over 6 weeks post accidents despite most good rescues with neutering policy practising this guideline.

Whether your young boy is going to take or not, depends on the individual character combination and whether he can take a hint when his advances are not welcome or not. That one you can never predict. I've had my fair share of success and failures over the years in introducing neutered boars to sows from singles to larger groups at varisou ages when it comes to working out the dominance in the group. Dominant older sows can get more difficult to bond when it comes to introducing males if they are not minded to give up any control, but they are often fine with a submissive boar.

There is no health risk unless she has got mobility problems. I have successfully bonded sows as old as 7 years with adult boars; in her case a 3 year old boar, who got a bit excited at first, but even though she had bloating issues, it didn't impact on them. Please follow the tips in the various guides at the top of this section. You will have to sit out things and not interfere unless they get into a serious tussle. The crucial bit with cross gender bondings is getting past initial acceptance and dominance sort-out; after that, they are the most stable of all bonds.

:D Once they are introduced and get on OK, Boar/Sow relationships are the most stable you can have. I have kept a sow with her neutered son and never had any problems.
Also had young sow and boar of same age, again never had a problem with them.

Thank you all for posting like I said Archie is due to be introduced in the next week or so which is his 6 weeks post op (Tuesday 22nd Dec) so no need to worry there. Peaches was our only concern due to her age but you have put our minds at heat there that there's no impact on her health. So next week we will just have to cross fingers & hope the 3 decide they get on. We will let you know how it goes
Thank you again

Just a quick update.
We did the introduction this evening and it went amazing NO teatg chattering from anyone only archie was rumble strutting the girls have seaned to have accepted him so far but the poor boy is wanting to mount them but my girls are not having any of that (I brought them up right lol) he keeps trying but takes there hunts really quickley and just popcorns off till he trys again :-)
I'm laying next to there cage tonight to keep an eye in them so fingers crossed it keeps going well I know we have a few weeks to Waite to make sure they don't suddenly reject each other but fingers crossed it will go smooth
