Good morning all,

I just wanted a bit of advice on Mr. Wendall. He started acting a bit odd yesterday. I'm not sure if I should whisk him off to the vet or not.

So, I went out for an hour and when I came back.. something just didn't seem right with Mr. Wendall, you know when you can just tell. The way he was lying, his back legs, he kept pointing them right out behind him and wriggling his hips.

He was still walking about, eating drinking peeing. And he has always hopped in and out of his cage with far more ease than my much larger Felix.

I gave them a bit of parsley to tide them over till dinner while I cleaned their cage.

He kept doing it while he was eating his parsely! His front half was sitting up fine munching away, but his back legs kept laying straight out behind him... and he kept kinda wriggling his hips from side to side... it was very odd.

I don't know what it could be? Is he constipated? I saw him pee and **** yesterday, everything else seemed okay... Is this a sign of stones? or an infection? His pee did not look too cloudy.

Any help would be appreciated... have I just been watching him too much while writing my dissertation? :( I think I always think they are sick when I have school work to do.....

Best t check though... especially if I should be whisking him off to the vet!

Was he making a purring noise when he was wriggling his hips? And was it when he was eating his favourite foods or all the time?

No it wasn't like a happy wriggling back and forth thing... I can recognize those :). That's why it has concerned me. He didn't seem to be enjoying it, though it wasn't causing him pain...

More like pancaking them right on the floor, and then sitting with his back legs out to the side, and then switching to the other side... it reminded me of how you feel when you need to pee...

He kept doing it in his cage as well

Maybe I'm just being silly, perhaps he has pulled a muscle or something. He is quite a fan of putting his bum right up in the air and prancing around for Felix to see...:{

First thing I'd suggest (unless he's showing other obvious signs of illness; lethargy, not eating/drinking, other obvious behavioural changes, in which case off to the vets!), is pop him on a white towel, see what colour his urine is (for any signs of blood), and make sure his poos are normal (sometimes it can be difficult to tell with two piggies living together).
