Hi all sorry for all the posts in different chats but I'm worried about my Dave as you know We lost Derek on Thursday and I'm still heart broken over losing him. Now my Dave is eating, drinking and is out and about yet the sparkle in his eyes have gone. I'm giving him extra attention and I just want to make sure he is ok.my chinno is in a pen right next to him and they rub noses and make noises at each other will my Dave be ok. I'm probably overreacting cause I'm still grieving for Derek x

Yeah he's out and about pottering around his pen eating his hay as well he just seems to have lost his sparkle and I'm probably being paranoid I just can't lose another piggy x

Can you pair Chino up with him or perhaps you can take him boar dating to find another companion x

I'm considering doing that just worries as Dave was the dominant one out of him and Derek and chinno is a dominant piggy as well x

Hi!

Dave is grieving but not acutely pining. His behaviour is very normal for this stage.

What Wiebke said ^^ but it can take a while like a few weeks, or it can take very little time like a day. Weighing is good as grief may bring other health issues to the fore.

When Merab lost her cage mate she was very quiet and subdued.
Like your Dave she’d lost her sparkle .

When I introduced her to 2 new baby girls she bonded with them almost instantly and they gave her a whole new lease of life.
Dave is getting on with the business of surviving but missing piggy companionship.

I hope you can find a good way forward to provide for his need.
He’s gorgeous
