Is My Guinea Cage Ok?

Hello! I would love some advice on how I have set up my guinea cage so far. It is a two tier cage but I feel my two boys are a bit young to be climbing to different levels. I have put a bathroom mat on top of puppy pads on the bottom floor and some fleece and a cosy bed on a level up (they don’t seem to have the confidence yet to go up to this level). I have a litter tray with a small amount of sawdust in the corner, two food bowls, two tunnels and a house with two escape routes. Have I missed anything that I could add? It seems quite a busy cage already. Or is there hazards that I haven’t spotted? I do plan on buying a floor cage for the boys once my spare room becomes habitable for them .

How long is the cage in cm please?
 
Thank you, they’re very cheeky . The cage is 96cm x 49cm roughly. They’re 6-7 weeks old at the moment and therefore quite small, I hope to have a larger cage for when they are fully grown.
 
Yes, you got it. You'll need a 120cm cage sooner rather than latter.

My advice would be get a longer cage, remove any second level like the one you have at the one end, this creates more space and have two hidey's in there....

At the moment they have a place to go each by looks of it so that is good. are you finding they are pooing in the tray?
 
Perfect! Thank you so much! I will purchase this and feel better that they have more space. I am also looking to buy an indoor pen for them to play in while I am out. Thank you for your help

We still use them now, they have two exits so are perfect when hormones strike and piggies can get a little chasey with each other they are a real, useful house.
I bet they love there cardboard chubes, you have for them! Always a piggy favourite :)

I have seen these, I will purchase them on my next trip to pets at home! Thank you. With regards to the litter tray, they do use it, but not any more than anywhere else in the cage? Are you suggesting maybe to remove it if they don’t have a need for it? Or even tips on how to get them to use it solely as a toilet?
 
Hello, me again . I am trying out different flooring options to see what suits my guineas (and myself) best. I started with sawdust but the respiratory concerns for my boys as well as the mess for me made me quickly want to change that. I have tried a furry bathroom mat which seemed to work well actually. I now am trying fleece on top of puppy pads. One of my Guineas is the more dominant and recently he has been climbing on top of his house but I have yet to see him climb down. I left him for a while yesterday to figure it out but I panicked and lifted him down myself. Is this normal for them to explore in this way? My concern is that he doesn’t like the fleece on the floor? Or is trying to get away from my other boy (even though he displays the more dominant behaviours?). I have taken your advice and will purchase a larger cage as I knew this was a necessity as they got older. How long should I leave him on his house for? And is this normal behaviour? Thank you

Hello! Sorry, haven't been on forum, appears you have a climber..... it happens but may not happen again, dont worry he'll get down.. :) Younger piggies can be very bouncey like this and will sit on roofs - I doubt it is the fleece piggies tend to love their comfort
