Hi
I currently have Arthur who lost his brother Amos 4 weeks ago. Amos died at home so I put Amos in the cage and he licked him and was aware Amos died. He was still his normal self, he was the “naughty” one, always taking Amos’s food, running around like a madman etc. Arthur is 14 months. I got him a baby brother, bonding went well, cleaned the cage thoroughly, they’ve been together a full week today. Baby David is the one running around now (as expected from a 6 week old), there has been no fighting, Arthur occasionally is making the dominance sound (which he never did before), he’s no longer making his “happy noise” even when picked up. He’s eating a bit less. I’m worried about him, he’s lost a few grams but nothing significant.

So sorry for your loss of Amos.
You have done a good thing in getting a companion for Arthur so he won’t be alone.
As the bonding went well and there’s no fighting it sounds as if everything is fine.
Arthur will be adjusting to a new relationship with David.
Give him time and carry on keeping an eye on him.
