Today I went to a local farm shop. They sell meadow hay £10 a bale. But the hay is kept in a open sided barn not bagged up. I was worried that rats & mice will have easy access to the hay . I'm use to buying hay already bagged up. Is this how hay is normally stored? And is it safe for gps

Thats how the hay I use when its in stock is kept and I havent had a problem. Hay shouldnt really be kept in sealed plastic it needs to "breathe" but its done like that for convinience really. Many peolel use unwrapped farm bales with no issue :-)

ive had open bales in the past, however it can be a nuisance for getting all over the place. Never had any health issues as a result other than a very corse batch which lead to a hay poke!
