Is my little Truffle strange?

Hi all, new member here with a query about the way my piggy likes to be held, sit and sleep. He only sleeps like this when he is on me and doesn’t usually do it when he’s in his house.

Around two months ago we discovered that this little guy had an injury to his back paw and he wasn’t using his leg at all and it was making him very defensive with his mate so after we had him at the vet, we decided to separate them to give him time to recover and to monitor his food/water/meds etc.
Since then I have been spending a lot of time with him and I suppose it has been great for us to bond. His idea of bond is slightly different from mine! I can’t get a minute from him . He doesn’t like me spending time with my other boys and he would honestly sit on my lap 24/7. He’s the quietest of our four pigs and he seems to act shy around my wife and my young daughter so it’s me that takes to do with me more often than not.

He started to lie on his side while on my lap and as time has went on he sits more like a dog than a piggy!
He now loves to lie on his back on me…
Is this normal?
He still does the same normal things that the other three boys do and they are all fed and treated the same (excluding his injury time out). He’s not in pain and he’s certainly not uncomfortable as he even wants to eat on me while he’s lying flat on me… he also pops his little head off so I know the difference between a poorly pig and one that’s happy. He also walks and runs perfectly fine too.

My wife and daughter seem to love it and they think it’s really cute but I’m thinking it’s just weird!

The first two pictures on the blue towels was how it started after he recovered.

The other two are they way he likes to be now.

I swear he thinks he’s a dog .

Thank you! Yeah he’s very relaxed with me but I do put the hours in with him. Although the photos don’t back me up but I swear I haven’t been alcohol…

Thank you, I’m biased but yes he is gorgeous but wow he’s a little eating machine . At first I was a little bit worried thinking that something was wrong and that maybe he was in some sort of pain but like I said, it’s now the new normal for him.

How sweet... he's really relaxed! You must be his favorite person in the world! I don't think he's weird... some pigs are really people-oriented and love to snooze on laps. I've had some pigs that are really busy, many that were happy to sit for long periods of time with me, and one who was like Truffle and just loved to full out sleep on me, all stretched out.

Haha I’m still thinking he’s in the weird camp myself . Yeah Truffle can roll over as soon and as often as he likes and then it’s usually followed by a wee shake and a pop. The past couple of days he has started putting his head right back while he’s lying like this for me to stroke him under his chin as well as his tummy while he’s squeaking away .

Hi there, thanks for your reply. It’s got to the stage now that after shouting on me to open his cage, he just jumps out and almost instantly does a huge stretch and yawn and then wants my hand and arm around him so he can go for a nap. He’s totally relaxed and safe in his house as we call it but it’s almost like he feels safer sleeping on me. He only really gets up and walks off so he can do the toilet and then he’s instantly straight back up on me for another yawn and stretch. He’s full of kisses too. He would do this all day if I would allow it . My other 3 boys like a cuddle but Truff’s on a different level entirely!

Just to add, he maybe started it to take weight off his sore leg, and now he just likes it.

Hahaha yeah he’s a wee cutie, a lazy cutie but still…. I agree with you, he probably started lying like that because of his injury and he’s realised that he likes it. I have spent a LOT of time with him in the last 2-3 months so it’s almost like the reward for the hard work and that he can completely switch off. Unfortunately this behaviour is only for me and I can feel him tensing up me if my daughter or wife come close. He’s not scared of them, not at all but he’s on a whole different level of comfortable with me.

To think that I originally said no to the idea of getting some piggies for my daughter’s birthday…

These little guys have changed our lives! .
