Hi all

I recently got a baby boy pig Ben and succesfully re-homed him with adult pig (Harry) as Harry was on his own, i took guidance in introducing them gradually, bathing them and new home together etc.

I seems well, Ben has a tube in the cage in case he needs his own space. However the last couple of weeks his did have what looked like a bite on his nose and face but inhave never seen any signs of them fighting. i now notice that he seems a little bald underneath and round his backside, it's hard to tell as he is black and his skin is black. I googled skin complaints and got some Neem tea tree conditioner and bathed him, but there are no signs of any mites, do you think he is being bullied by Harry?

As i said there are no signs of bullying and no bites on his ears, and when i put them in the run and one was without the other if i was stroking one they cry out for each other?

So i'm wondering if what looks like bites are actuallly Ben scratching himself?

Any advice welcome please.

:(

It looks like Ben might have mites most likely! A good indicator is if he squirms when you gently stroke over the bald patches.

You can treat those with xeno450 (ivermectin), but I would recommend that you take him to the vet to comfirm the diagnosis. Make sure you treat his companion as well and repeat the procedure after 10-14 days to kill off any eggs.
