Just thought you might like to meet Rambo, one of our long term residents. Is he the biggest piggy at 1.8kg+ ? Rambo is the most laid back piggy and such a sweet nature, he loves cuddles and attention. :))

Just look at me, am I handsome or what?

Oh wow he is huge, I love him. I thought my late Gertie was huge (around 1750g).

What a stunner! Nerys is blown away!

I think he is about at the top of the range! drool

Wow what a stunner, if I had room I'd snap him up!drool
My Fuzzy is a rex cross and he's huge, 2kg, must be the breed lol :))

Omg Joanne don't do this to me x) he is gorgeous!

He is fabulous and a hit wherever he goes! I will have to put some pics on of our other long term/ill piggies, they are all equally as scrummy. Bless them.

I think it is a Rex thing, being big, Woody (my profile pic) was a good size for such a young chap.

He's beautiful, but sadly not avilable for adoption due to long term health issues. Rambo is part of the Milhaven family of sanctuary piggies. :)

He's absolutely gorgeous! x)

Is he a very large framed guinea pig or is he overweight due to his health issues? Sorry if this sounds like I am being rude about him. I really don't mean to be. I think he's great but just wondered if his weight was down to size or excess fat. Oh god, I just seem to be digging a bigger and bigger hole here! I hope you know what I am trying to get at! :))

I won't tell Rambo you called him overweight, he is very sensitive! :)):))

He is a long term piggy because he is prone to abscesses, which he gets regularly. He gets them on his back. :( Rambo is acually on a 'low fat diet' or else he might be even bigger! He is quite large framed anyway, so I guess he was always going to be big. ;)

Joanne I expect you've already considered this but would it help you if you put pictures on your site & asked people to sponsor long term piggies? I would love to do that myself, especially for Kizzy :)

I did used to have a page for sponsorship piggies, but now that we have so many in the Milhaven 'Sanctuary' family, I'm not sure if I have time to do updates ect. Its certainly something I will look into again though. It does help a lot. I'm acually in the process of designing a page for our long term residents with photos and their stories, so I could add the sponsorship on there. :)

Rambo you are an incredibly handsome boar x)x)

I've definitely developed a soft spot for rex piggies, especially since having J (he weighs just over 1.6kg).

WOW, he is big! My Ed is quite large but probably not pushing 1.8kg. Rambo is SO gorgeous though, what a lovely boy.

OMG! x) drool x) He is so gorgeous! What a stunning boy and a whole lotta piggle!

Ooo how exciting I will keep checking! Don't worry about updates on your website, what about sending a newsletter to the sponsors once a quarter or every other month to keep them up to date on their progress? :)

I like the idea of a dedicated page for the long term residents.

You can tell him I said he was very handsome, but best not to tell him the rest, bless him.

Just for info, the best antibiotic for abscesses is Zithromax. It works fantastically well. If you want to know more I can give you the details of my vet so you can find out about dosages etc.

Ooooh he's HANDSOME! What a lovely chunky boy! x)

Munchie sends her love and sympathy. As a fellow abscess sufferer (she has just healed up after number 7) she fully understands how Rambo must feel from time to time!

My vet also uses Medical Manuka Honey in abcesses, it's done the trick with the two I've had to deal with. It draws all the badness out it's fantastic stuff.

Thanks for the info. We have been very lucky with Rambo really, the abscesses do heal fairly quickly, I have recently introduced our vet to Zithromax but it may be an idea to give them dosages for future reference. :)
