I have female guinea pigs this morning one of them is very quiet haven’t seen her eat or drink which is very unusual for her
She is in her pod making a funny little noise when she breaths she also has a runny green nose
I have brought them in together and wrapped her in a tes towel she calmed down immediately and stopped making the noise when she was held.
Is it just a cold maybe or could she be on her way? She is a good few years old
Thanks

@Katie416 It could be heatstroke if they were out in the heat yesterday or it could be a respiratory infection.

Either way she sounds quite ill and needs to see the vet as soon as they open.

Please take your guinea pig to the vet as a matter of urgency. These symptoms are serious and piggies can deteriorate very quickly.

Please have her seen by a vet ASAP!

Start offering syringe feed and water as soon as your can (mushed pellets will do as long as your cut off the syringe tip as shown); this is to help keep her guts going so any if there is any treatment is has time to work.

Fingers very firmly crossed!

Guinea pigs don't get just colds. They can get respiratory infections which stop them from eating as the need to breathe comes before the need to eat. These infections can only be treated by prescribed antibiotics so please do see a vet and let them know it is urgent

Thanks all took her to the vet sadly she didn’t make it and passed away in the car on the way

So sorry for your loss.
Guinea pigs can go so quickly we don’t have time to do anything for them.
Take time to grieve and be gentle with yourself
