i have 2 guinea pigs. My guinea pig Cleveland has acted different since this afternoon and I am worried. This morning he was being his usual self running around my room and popcorning being very loud and talkative. This afternoon after I came home from a meeting and he was not acting himself. He is quiet, I've only heard him make noise for a few minutes. He also isn't running around, instead he just hides under my bed and sits still. He is also grinding his teeth every once in a while, but he's done that since I got him. He is about 10 months old I believe. He's still eating and pooping like crazy and drinking lots of water. Right now he's laying on my shoulder and every once in a while his head will twitch or his body will, his head twitching isn't unusual for him because he does this every once in a while since I got him. Should I be worried? He lives in the same cage as my other guinea pig Teddy and Teddy is acting like himself. Maybe he is just tired, but I wanted some advice. Thanks.

It does sound like he may be feeling out of sorts so I would get him checked by a vet.

Please can you update your location so we can advise you accordingly.

Hi! Please keep an eye on him and if possible make a vet appointment. Weigh any piggy that you are worried about daily, ideally at the time in the feeding cycle to check the actual food intake.

Could you please add your country, state or (for the UK) your county/city to your details, so we can give you the appropriate advice for your location straight away. Click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and location.

As vet care is much more expensive in the US (and not as easy to get to), I would keep your boy under close observation and weigh him daily. Make a vet appointment as soon as you see some clearer symptoms or there is a weight loss over 2 oz (50g).

The good news: he woke up and is acting like his normal self. He was so excited to see me he popcorned so high he hurt his back leg when he landed. He was limping for about 5 minutes and now he seems to be fine, no limping. I know they are good at faking to not be sick, so I was wondering if he could be faking this? Should I give him ibproufen just in case?

he may just have had an off day; it happens. You are a very caring piggy mommy, so you are very observant.
I wouldn't give him any painkiller as he is no longer limping, so it wasn't anything serious.
