okay so i have a guinea pig obviously, and i got him a couple days ago and the third day i had him i noticed he was itching himself and shaking himself like dogs do when they are wet,so i did research and checked his skin and fur and i notice little brown spects on him and i dont have a job and no money and i guess home remedies dont work and i need help ASAP!

The guinea needs to be taken to the vets to confirm the cause. Is the reason you don't have a job/money due to your age? Maybe you could ask for help from parents/guardians. As Ive learnt just tonight that the shop bought treatments are not strong/good enough for treatment for mites etc and could cause more issues in the future. As well as this, it's not a good idea to self-diagnose health issues for your piggy, only a vet will know. It may be nothing to worry about and potentially just could be dust of some sort, but if you are concerned it's best to try and figure out a way to gather some money, for the sake of your pig.

Hi! You can reclaim any vet cost for treatment in a new guinea pig from a pet shop as exposure and infection must have happened at the shop. Please be aware that species specific guinea pig mites (both mange mites who burrow their eggs in the increasingly inflamed skin and hay mites which fix their tiny dark egg cases to the hairs) are invisible to the naked eye. What you are seeing are most likely lice.
Please read this guide here for details: What to check and look out for in new guinea pigs (vet checks, sexing, parasites&illness)

Please be aware that vet treatment is going to make the overall largest budget post in any pet's life. It would be good if you factored that in and saved up on a weekly basis so you can always access vet care since emergencies and illness NEVER happen at a good time and you often cannot wait for days to have a guinea pig seen.

my guardian said they couldn't pay to take my piggy to the vet since they don,t even know how much it would be

I don't mean to sound rude but your guardian has a duty of care to take the piggy to the vets for treatment.

You are within your rights to phone your vet and ask for a quote before you go.

You would pay the initial consultation fee and any treatments on top

You can call a vet clinic for a quote first and then reclaim the vet fee from the pet shop. Please show your guardian the link in my last post!

If you are under guardianship, it is your guardian's legal duty to ensure that any pet of yours has access to good care, which includes vet care.

i dont even know where to begin. i dont have a vet and dont know how to get one i mean i have no car no money and i a minor so i cant demand my guardian to take me to a vet. And i dont want to get rid of my piggy but i feel like if i cant take care of him i never should've got him in the first place

what do you mean by legal duty?

hey it's okay.

It is obvious you love your guinea pig very much. Are you UK or US based?

Please don't worry. It is clear that you love your Guinea pig. As menationed above, are you located in the UK or elsewhere?

You can find local vets in your area by looking online :)

if it is lice you should try to give your piggie a bath. i would recommend using baby shampoo, like burt bees fragrance free.

How old are you? If you are a minor I am not sure whether you should have an account on this forum.
