I always said that once I'd learned to drive and got more mobile that I'd sign up to be a part of the Piggy Bank network, but since that's happened I've not been able to find anything recent about the group and the Facebook page appears to be quite quiet!

Anyone know whether it's still going or not?

Thanks!

I've not heard of the Piggy Bank - but I have heard of the Piggy Train . @Stewybus is the the best person to talk to about this.

The piggy bank is definitely still about :) just a bit more under the radar. Suzy from glyneath guinea pig rescue would be a good person to contact but i can't remember if she's on the forum..?

They are still active, but as a tightly knit group that mostly concentrates on just some rescues.

If you would like to volunteer for piggy trains, I would recommend to get in touch with @Stewybus . He runs a group that helps with that side of things; he is running the relatively new Tees Valley Guinea Pig Rescue. The group is more open and is willing to help more rescues. ;)

That's a shame! I remember the discussions regarding forming the group on this very forum a few years ago and I thought it was a fantastic idea to have more of a national piggy rescue system, both transport and temporary fostering in emergency situations - something I'm now in a position to offer!

I'm glad there's something more open in its place, if it is, or could become what the Piggy Bank promised to be that'd be even better.

Thanks for the info!

Barnsley animal rescue are a member of piggy bank. We meet the criteria for piggy bank membership. Its just a way of making sure rescues are of a minimum standard, l am sure plenty of non PB rescues meet the standards, but many do not. Any rescue can apply for PB membership l believe? It was already in place when l started volunteering so l am not sure about the procedures. We do ask for assistance from the piggy train and the two organisations complement each other.
