I'm a member of 3 hamster forums, and it's generally agreed on all of them that two mixes (Harry Hamster and Burgess) are vastly better than the others on the market.

Is there a mix like this for guinea pigs, one that is considered the best in comparison to all others?

I think it depends on the guinea pigs. The nuggets are better then the mixes as they give a complete food. The best thing for guinea pigs is hay and lots of it.

Yes, hay is the best food, but I agree with piggyfan that it depends on the pig.

Excel

Saw excel in the pet shop, didnt buy it *** it was quite costy. what do you guys think about it? they had medow something and carrot and apple

Burgess excel is a great food and recommended by vets. It is more expensive but the ingredients are of a better quality.

We feed putt gerty guinea ( a museli) and C + T wagg (pellets). When we first got pigs gerty was the only one we could get hold of easily.

I would recommend pellets as our pigs on gerty selectivly feed which means they arn't getting the full range, but my ultimate advice is get the one they like and that suits your circumstance best.

I personally don't think it matters as much as it might for hamsters as Hay is the key food that should be making up 80% of thier diet
