Back story: Our rescue pigs came with a bag of mixed food from the fosterers, they have had a handful of this with P@H nuggets (so it's almost entirely nuggets!). I've noticed one of the pigs really likes having a good root through to see if she can find the hidden bits so wanted to mix a little museli in with their nuggets so she can continue nosing in it.

I've read the threads and got a bit lost, I understand that just museli is not recommended nutrient wise (so would only be adding a little for rummaging purposes) and there seems to be a lot of problems with colours etc so thought I'd ask if someone could guide me through! We can get at most high street shops!

Thank you

Muesli is not advised because of selective feeding mainly. Our first piggies loved muesli and we never changed it but they always selectively fed, they did however live a good healthy age.. I think the brand we fed was Gerty Guinea Pig. I wouldn't recommenced going to museli but it is obviously up to you as pellets are nutritionally better as they are balance and no colours.

If they like foraging you can get a empty Kitchen roll tube cut it dow nthe middle, fill it with hay and pop a sprig or two of coriander or parsley in there so they get to forage for that

hope that helps a little :)

We have regular debates about the best Guinea Pig food . The truth of the matter is non are ideal !

Museli is definitely the least favourable. If you have a sow that particularly likes museli - i would gradually wean her off it if I were you - and gradually introduce whichever pellet brand you decide on . Here are 2 recent threads which may interest you ...

Hi, I don't think I explained myself well, they have pets at home nuggets with a small amount of mixed food in (from the rescue), they would continue on those nuggets but as one enjoys rummaging I wanted to add a few of pieces of museli in for her to dig through and find, neither would be on just museli I've read the threads and understand it's not recommended nutrition wise. I have also read some muselis have colours in that aren't recommended which is why I started this thread!

Hopefully that makes more sense, I have a tendency to ramble!

I still advise you wean her off museli gradually:)
