I am blessed with a very good old fashioned veg shop across from where I work and they are happy to give me any damaged or old stock for free 8) and cabbage leaves etc.

So I just wanted to check, have looked through a really looong list and I didnt see anything that they shouldnt eat, but is there anything that would be sold in a fruit and veg shop that should not be given to piggies?

Potatoes is main thing. Mixed views on cauliflower as too much might cause bloating

I had the luxury last time of a huge veg patch and grew my own. My garden [*]is[/*] the size of that vegetable patch and I need it to be lawn for both the dog and the piggies.

I did manage last time to get some of the leaves off the caulis and broccolli etc that they couldnt sell, but they will be my main supplier.

I will of course be feeding in moderation anyway as I dont want to over feed anything to them.

I had a feeling onions and their relatives would not be suitable, thank you. I wont be giving spuds either.

Yup, potatoes are a no no.

You should avoid things with seeds in, and don't give them too much acidic stuff (eg. apples). Vegetables that can be 'stringy' may cause digestive problems too, and large amounts of carrot over a prolonged time can cause problems with the liver (or maybe the kidneys, I can't remember).

Guinea lynx is a good information site:

I am thinking that sticking with greens on the whole will be best.

Our old rabbit refused to eat carrot - funny boy :))

Pulses are another no no, unless you feed the green shells, like French beans.

Another things that is not good are seeds (fatty and husks that can get stuck between teeth), treats that contain dairy (including yoghurt), honey and sugar - the piggy equivalent of junk food!

I dont give dog equivelent to junk food as I soon learnt what is best for them and what is basically high priced sugar, plus she is intolerant to some foods so have to be careful. So I am no stranger to finding the right and best things that suit my pets - some would say they are spoilt, but I call it indulged 8)
