Hi Everyone,

My piggie has been fine in himself up to now, I have asked questions about his care and stuff because I'm a newby.

Now I'm worried, he always squeeks as I walk in and runs to my hand when I bring his food. but Tuesday evening he didn't come to his food or my hand, he just didn't move, and l'm sure he was sitting in the same place as he was when I left him earlier. Anyway not know enough we left him alone and just kept our eye on him. When he didn't seem to have moved yesterday morning we made an appointment for the vets, which we attended last night, by this time he still hadn't eaten. the vet checked him out and said he seemed fine nothing phsycal wrong, heart, lungs, tummy, feet, legs, back and teeth all fine. Brought him home to a nice clean cage, now he's been in his little strawberry house the whole time, he squeeks at the same times he always has, and is coming out to grab a bit of food and taking it back to his house, but if I put my hand anywhere near he waggles his back end and doesn't look too happy.

Could he have been scared ? although I don't know how or by what, but its the only thing I can think of that could cause this change. he is 15/16 wks old now

Does he have a companion? If he has been checked out with the vet and everything is ok physically then perhaps he is depressed? Guinea Pigs like people do not do well in isolation, they need their own species to thrive. He is also hitting hormonal teenage age which will not be helping. Can you find a rescue that offers boar dating so he can choose a friend?

It could be that something has freaked him out a bit and hopefully it will settle down soon. It’s great that you took him to the vet straight away to get him checked!

I agree with the above, if he’s a single pig he may be lonely. It’s definitely worth taking him on some piggy dates at a rescue to find him a buddy! :)

Does he have a freind? It's important that piggies have a friend. No matter how much attention you give him you can't be with him 24/7. He needs another piggy to do piggy bimbling stuff and talk piggy talk to.

Companionship

I have had the same experience with my piggy. He was spooked by something. He should act normal after about 2 days. He probably won't move from the same spot, just put food near him and wait it out. I assure you, your pig is fine.
