My boars have been separated for over 6 months following a fall out and non successful re-introductions. Thought id try another random bonding session on my lap after a bath a few days ago - as both had quite dry skin and needed special shampooing. I didn't have much hope but I was very surprised with the result! After some reluctance they snuggled up to each other and were really happy squeaking away for about an hour. Iv had them on my knee a few times since to continue these bonding sessions and they appear to be really enjoying the cuddles they get from one another. I was so impressed with these bonding sessions so today that i decided to take the next step and I put them is a run together but they had a fight straight away (which was disappointing) so I separated them straight away. Anyway, I'm not giving up hope just yet......do you think there's a chance of them re-bonding fully again ?

How old are your boys?

Most boys will never get back together after a full flung fight with bites even though they will be happy licving next to each other or having share cuddle sessions. Some may share neutral ground (like shares roaming time or a run on the lawn). A few will move back in together as adults; mostly in cases where it is hasn't come to a full-out fight.

It really depends on your two boys and how well they can mesh, but if they fight as soon as they are on their own together after all that time, I would sadly not put much money on them getting back together again. :(

Thanks for the honest feedback. They are about 1 year two months. Wish they would forgive and forget lol. But it appears that a Guinea pig never forgets!

Sadly, once a piggy has made up his or her mind about somepig else, they rarely change it! Yours are just coming up to a more hormonally settled adulthood, but if hostilities are pretty much imminent, it doesn't bode well for the near future. :(

image.webp Well at least I now know that they are happy to snuggle up to each other on my knee under my supervision which is more than what they would do a while back. Means they still get a play/relax time together. This is a pic of them earlier x

Mine are the same age and I have the same problem, I had a trio which I now have to separate- two are staying together as they muddle long together , but Whiskey (was being picked on) is now separated but can touch noses through the bars! and I am looking for a baby boar to give him a new cage mate.

Aw they are worse than people for falling out. You have to laugh. I just wonder if mine get bored not having another pig to run around with. I have thought about re-homing one and getting a friend for the one I keep but who's to say that new bond will last! They are in cages next to each other and the can touch noses too (or should I say bite!).
