Is There Such Thing As A Good P@H?

The pets at home that i sometimes go to is in trowbridge. I always go and look at the animals when i am over that way. The rabbits and guinea pigs are kept separate and by sex. They have good clean accommodation recently refurbished and always have food hay and water. There are always toys and tunnels etc and the animals seem happy.

When someone I know brought a pig there she found it had a small bold patch and they paid for the pig to get treatment.
So i suppose this one is one of the better ones.

Not heard any horror stories about our here in Scunthorpe. Rabbit and buns are separate all fed and kept clean etc.

Adoption centre is honest as far as i can see. One of the piggies in there it said i have become to big now to be sold. So at least they were honest and didnt try to pass him off as a neglected/abandoned case. Pleased they didnt either as i recognised him as i had seen him for weeks in the for sale part noticed him as he was huge compared to the others.

Marks 8/10 for Scunthorpe :)

Can't comment on P@H Aintree as never had an animal from there but P@H St Helens is ok. Cuzzy had mites so they loose a point for that and for leaving 3 large boars to fight so I give them 8/10 no real horror stories all animals are seperate and some of the staff know their stuff. :)

Horwich and Warrington are good. I think all stores no matter what type will have issues.
Those two stores have people who are quite knowledgable on the guinea front.
Horwich had extra hay and cardboard boxes for them to play in.
8/10 for both.

I think y local P@H are good. Never had any issues with mix-sexing, when i went for Erin she was being kept in a cage out the back as both pens had alot of amles in, so good hse wasn't mixed in O0

They give out alot of good info on all types o animals, inc not keeping buns/pigs together which is how i got Erin after a lady asked if she could put her with her rabbit and the man said no instead let me buy her t put with my girls, i'm ermm VERY well known in there ;D ;D

There's one abit furhter from me who i overheard saying you can keep piggies/buns togehter but i was to scared say anything :embarassed: so it's really all down to the staff and there knowledge :)

This sort of thread should not be on a forum slander of such a big company could have repercussions. I have heard good and bad about my local one.But a good outcome from a complaint was the right result. :)

? ? we have had numerous threads about peoples issues/concerns/good and bad of P@H in the past - why should this one be deemed any different PP, I don't remember "slander" warnings being raised before?

doncaster pets at home i was pretty impressed with!

derby pets at home is ok most times, but i have made complaints in the past. it looks like the complaints were followed up though as it isnt too bad now

Both my locals are fine, ive heard horror stories of some stores but not the ones local to me. 8/10 from me for both of them x

"Slander" is spoken word that is untrue - the written word that is untrue is known as "Libel" - but I don't think this counts in this case as it is only people voicing their experiences with a store.

My nearest P@H in Romford is pretty good. The animals are kept separately by sex and species, and are in good condition. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, particularly when I was a "new" piggie Mum.

I was suprised the other day actually.. normally none of the guineas look unhealthy or anything but i went in the other day as my bf wanted to show me some rats in the adoption bit so we always have a look at the furries, and the guineas were popcorning like crazy and there was one who kept rumbling i think they were all females.. i remeber when my girls did that when young lol they all had hay, pellets water and seemed in good condition as did all the other animals. We talked to someone on the checkout about my bf's dog's food too and he seemed really clued up about the food.

so they arent too bad at my local one.

having said all that ive never bought a pet from them.. but ive heard so many on here with problems..

Lol. I forgot to tell you a bit about my pets at home. :P I have to give it a 5/10 as it's not exactly good. When I went to them a couple of weeks ago. My mum and I were pretty disgusted with what we saw. The Degus had no food or water. The Guinea Pig bottles were full of alge, Same with the rabbits. Dead fish. Soo.. Eastleigh only gets a 5/10 overall.. but I'd say a 7/10 for just guinea pigs.

Just to let you know, the water in the water bottles is green because of the pro-biotic that is put in it.

It contains chlorophyll - which is the green pigment that is present in plants (and green algae) ;)

My local P@H is really good. The animals appear to be all really well looked after - they always have dried food, hay, water (that they can reach) and fresh fruit/veg. The staff seem to know what they are talking about and a lot of the staff have been there for many years. I know all the information I was given when I got the girls has proven to be correct. The guinea pigs/rabbits are kept separate and so are the boys and girls. They don't have very many animals of each kind at any one time and they appear to have a high turnover. There are a few times I've went in and they haven't even had any guinea pigs in. I really can't fault them!

well i bought milo and dino from there. they didnt have a clue i found out they were diff breeds they sold me a small cage for both. i ended up taking dino back. and found out the cage was just about bigg enuff for 1 pig alone.

i havnt been there since, not all P@H are the same but the one i went to was useless

Umm I go to two different P@H's. One in swansea the piggies had no food, couldnt reach the hay (and it was full too!) and there water was hard for them to reach and the lower one was empty. I emailed customer services and the guy that emailed back let me know he sorted it and apologised. I was very pleased but i didnt like his reason for them having no food. a certain amount perpiggie perday in one big bowl...what if one over eats? 6/10

The other one is bridgend. Its pretty good as far as I can tell. I've even applied for a part-time job there :)
*crosses fingers* 10/10

My opinion is though, the better the staff the better the p@h

P&H Blackpool seems good all animals look well cared for and staff are helpful.

Mine look's ok but I have been in there pet "store room" and is awful you all see what they want you to see. The cages they are kept in, in the "store room" are filthy, they never clean them just change the sawdust and hay! I'm afraid due to my personal experiences mine get a 2/10 and that is cause I like some of there products. To be honest tho I would rather pay over the odd's now at my local pet shop then give my money to them. xx

My local p@h is in Oldham and is pretty good. We brought our 2 gerbils from there and they were fine. We went in just before they were closing and they only had one sales assistant 'selling' the animals. He admittedly said that he couldn't yet sex gerbils but was 110% sure that the girls were in one tank and the boys in another but he didn't know which was which. We took a chance and got the 2 that looked friendliest. We sexed them ourselves and they were girls. 18 months later and no babies so he must have been telling the truth. We also got our hamster from there, adopted our Chinese hamster from there and brought Eliza from there. When I got Eliza, I was very inexperienced about guinea pigs and the lady was very helpful and did advice me to get one so Connie could have a friend. She even told me to phone her when I introduced them if I was worried it wasn't going well or something. She also explained to me how to introduce them etc. The products are also good and the staff seem helpful and friendly.

The food which the vet thinks poisoned Dave was from there!

Its a banned word in our house!

My cousin calls it Deaths @ home!

Ive reported the Hartlepool one for cruelty... a few years ago!
