Hi all,
This may be an odd question but is this something that just boars do? purr whilst waggling bum and swishing hips? Dillon does is it when he is happy and when he wants something ::) The reason i'm asking is I'm having touble sexing the minipigs (fidgety is an understatement) but today I saw Indy doing exactly the same thing and I think Badger was purring too.
Thanks
Sarah

Yes its a boar thing... rumbling is a mating dance, it is what they do to attract a mate, females do it too but not so much. How old are the pups? Boars should be separated from mum at 3 weeks....

They are two weeks old today, a little young for getting frisky ;) At least now I can just compare the other two to Indy and if they match they are boars ::)

Boars do do this. My two boys do it to eachother all the time, dragging their bums about!

Right just fed the little terrors and Indy seems to be waggling at Womble, i'm going to assume either Indy is gay or Womble is female but at two weeks she wont get pregnant will she? Is Indy too little to move in with Dillon I definatly do not want any more unexpected pregnancies but they are still feeding of off Violet as well as eating solid food

awww my new bunny called violet....
Mum could get preg or his sisters, i would keep a watchful eye and think about sexing them for sure and moving them... boys rumble at other boys too....
Its sad when u have to move them away from mum i know... i had to do this with my 4 baby boars.... I'm sure someone else will give u advice on this too x

you can post pics up here of the piggies bits (if you can grab a shot ;D) or check out www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm which will show pics of mini pigs bits! If still in doubt take them to the vet for sexing :)

Right had another go at sexing and i'm 99% sure Indy and Badger are boys and Womble is a girl! I'll move them at the weekend when I have time to play musical pigs. Fingers crossed Dillon wont mind two little ones moving in

Hiya hun,
Glad everything is going well with the bubs :smitten: Are you going to get Dillon neutered now he's had his fun?

Hiya,
If he gets on with the Indy and Womble then no but if they squabble I propably will and he can go back with Violet, Ivy and Womble but I think its also going to depend on how many/what sex Ivy has! Eek i've got piggies everywhere ;D i'm having to see if I can swap the piggy room for the study as its bigger, going to be playing musical guineas this weekend I think ;D

hoping all goes well with moving the piggies O0 we moved jessie into her new cage and that was enough for us :o :o :o hugs to the little ones they are way toooo cute to be causing all this trouble :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: jessie a girl loves to waggle her rump and rattle and now that poor zoe prefers living on her own jessie has been banished to the new cage ::) ::) ::) again hugs for your piggies and have fun on the weekend :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: O0

I think i have seen my pregnant sow do this but its commonly just boars

Girls can do it too. Fleur done it to Flora when she was highly hormonal! Typical woman! Granted it is mostly boars that do it though and I would imagine Sows do it when a little older and on heat especially during the teenage stage. :)

Its generally a boar thing. They do it either as a mating dance or to be threatening/assert their dominance. The wiping the bum on the floor is just them marking their territory. George wags his bum and growls all the time at Sharky but he has nothing off it and popcorns in his face :)

2funny 2funny I'm loving sharkey... my kind of pig... are there pigtures?

My smudgie only started this behaviour when he was around 10 weeks old...that's when I found out he was a boy as he was supposed to be a girly. I've still got my fingers crossed that Coco didn't get pregnant...sometimes she looks a bit porky but other times she just looks normal. Smudge has always been an ounce or so heavier than her & that's not changed so hopefully all is OK.
