Connie and Eliza live in a wooden hutch in our out house. During the winter, they will have a carpet wrapped around their hutch, plenty of hay and I have invested in a snuggle safe this year. I was wondering however, if it would also be a good idea to get an old bath towel, nail it to the hutch so that it can be rolled down at night to cover the hutch front or would this be going over the top?

my rabbit hutch has carpet then plastic over the top to stop the carpet getting wet! Also has a piece of wood on the end to weight the cover down so that it doesn't blown around! The rabbit hutch cover is on top of the hutch (blue carpet) the green hutch for the guinea pigs has pond liner over the top with a strip of wood also to weight it down!rolleyes!

Clare i'm in a similar situation (except my hutch is outside) I have a waterproof cover (carpet over the top but not front) but i am still concerned that the front seems very exposed as its a 2 storey hutch with all of the front of the bottom section open to the elements. Should i drape something between the hutch front and cover during really cold weather or would this interfere with air circulation.

Take a look at Gaile's set up above as her hutches are also out side. I think that if you use a bit of tarpaulin, it should be fine as it will keep water and rain out :)

I've got tarpaulin to bring down over the front of the outdoor hutches at night, or during heavy rain, I also managed to buy a hutch cover (with a cute rabbit scene on it!) to fit one of my hutches. You can buy snug hutch covers too.

It's raining heavily here and I'm about to have a juggle round to get most of mine into the relative comfort of the shed...

mine are in a shed with curtains on the window and it is insulated so mine are fine all year. Except summer were we keep the door open to the shed

Mine are outside & have the appropriiate hutch hugger for the hutch. Yesterday I went to B&Q & bought a tarpaulin Which was bigger than I thought when I opened it up so Its quadruple thickness & thats over my 2 storey hutch So this was a bargain at £5.89 I'm going to have a look in my 'glory hole 'for some old coats & cut the hoods off for the guineas to snuggle into aswell. I'm aslso working on my OH at the moment to get an indoor cage to put into the spare bedroom as its the one of the few rooms that doesn't have a movement sensor in for the house alarm.
