A couple of days ago I observed my guinea pig start acting weird. From time to time now he'll start shaking his foot and lay out on the ground while he rears his head and opens his mouth wide repeatedly.
Ever since he's done this the first time, he doesn't eat nearly as much it seems, and he just sits in the corner of the cage and avoids the other guinea pig that I have (both males).
I'm wondering if it's a seizure, and I don't want to wake up and find his corpse laying in the middle of the cage. The last time this happened I got him out and pet him while he did this, and then he stopped resumed his normal (but still odd) behavior. However, when he's not doing this he seems far more receptive to me petting him, and will lay out on the ground and purr where as before he used to be skittish and would run from me--because I haven't owned him for long.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
