I have a female guinea pig named Baby. She is only seven months old and I am worried she may be sick. She is breathing very fast and sneezing. I have never heard any of my other guinea pigs sneeze before so I am very worried about her. She has had a Uri once when she was a baby. I don't know if this can cause one again. A lot of vets are closed right now so I have nobody to get advice from. Please tell me what you think it is.

Could very well be. Any clicking from the nose? You will need to see a vet asap. Tjey can get them again. My old pig had 2 or 3 then pneumonia, survived it all with antibiotics

I don't hear any clicking noises. There are not many vets available today. I really don't want her to die. What should I do? Her eyes are also not gunky.

She is eating a bit of hay. Is there anything else that it could be?

If it is a uri or pneumonia , keep the pig warm and make sure shes eating. Can you see a vet tomorrow?

I don't know. A lot are closed on Sundays. I can see if I can get her in today. Should I be giving her wa ter through a syringe?

How often is the sneezing? Is she still active? Your other pigs can catch a uri. Is there any nose discharge?

If shes not drinking then yes. Or try cucumber. Be careful with syringing water. Only do a tiny bit at a time incase you get it in her lungs. Does your local pets@home have a vet inside

I separated her from my other pigs. She sneezes once every few minutes. There is no discharge

No. I am so worried about her. There is one vet I found that is open and treat s guinea pigs. I t is a bit pricey though. Hopefully she will be okay

Pets@home vets are open sundays. Call first thing in morning and book in as emergency. They will examine her, if its a uri she will be given baytril antibiotics for you to syringe twice daily

Sweet. Good luck. Get some antibiotics if it is a uri , you probably are not seeing any discharge yet but it will probably come if it is a uri. Dont panic too much this is a common sickness in guinea pigs. Any aftercare you need advice on, just post back on here and everyone will help you. X

No the breathing is fast and abdominal . This needs seeing to before it gets worse. It looks like pneumonia to me. Definitly get to a vet tomorrow and dont leave without antibiotics. Ask for zythromax.

I must go sleep now. Please see a vet asap some do 24 hours. This is an emergency. If they ask if shes eating say no even if she is. Then they will have you in straight away.

My parents s air they won't take her to the vet. The think she is fine. What do I do? I want her to live

Shes not fine. She needs a vet. I have been in the same situation with my own. It gets worse fast. They think she is fine, i know she is not. I have told you all i can.your parents need to be responsible for this animal.

They won't listen to me. They think it is too expensive. I can't just watch her die slowly. I don't want her in that kind of pain

Thank you for trying to help. I don't want t to see my pig die. I will try to convince my parents. Thank you for the tips
