Is This At All Concerning

I understand pure bread pigs are bigger but mine ways (1.2 kg/1200g) any advice on how to get her to lose wait shes a female and shes called marzipan she had bleeding a week before she gave birth and got depresed when the baby left.

I have tried most things taking her bed away this thing she lies on and dosent move (she dose move and she can walk and has no problems doing so.
Advise please
 
She weighs the same as my Sophie. Guinea pigs come in all shapes and sizes. I would not take her bed away as that will only have her sleep on the floor. Does she live with a friend? Living alone will make her less likely to move as she has no incentive. Do you feed museli? If so gradually switch to pellets as mixes are full of junk.
 
she is very shy and nervouse and very jumpy unlike my two others who climb on my lap and dont runaway when theres a bang i got her when she was a 1month and 6weeks old a month longer than they were meant to be she also came to me claws almost into her foot and crawling with mites there all gone but it sickened me to the point i went back and told them it is not except able i kept her because of her cheeky smile her mouth also seems to be larger than the others when i give them food they take it she seems to take my finger with it sometimes.
 
So does she live with two piggies? No wonder she is depressed after such appaling neglect,poor baby.

They have since selective which is mixed all together so there is no picking she has two friends pancake and bakewell group photo they also have a hut full of hay which is a bed room but i will put her bed back in

yeah i know it angers me i disagree with cooping animals up on show all the time in with birds (it was so noisy even i found it loud after 5 mins)
 
I wouldn't worry over her weight. 1.2kg is fine for a piggie, several of our girls have been bigger piggies and knocked around that weight - as long as she is active then I wouldn't say she is over weight, just sounds like she is a bigger piggie, I would pop her bed back in for her. She is lovely.
 
I wouldn't worry about her weight, two of my girls are 1.2kg and perfectly healthy. So long as she has a healthy diet and plenty of exercise, she should be fine. Some piggies are just bigger than others! :)

My dad once had a make pig who was over 1.4kg but he was fit and healthy - he was just a huge guinea pig!
 
Thanks I will pop her bed back in and hop are garden isn't water logged for much longer
 
I wouldn't worry, 3 of my girls are in the 1300s and pretty healthy and active.
 
Thanks guys not may people say shes pretty as photos like that as hard to get of her as she usually just a big black blob in photos so thats what we call her!

She is really beautiful, and I am sorry that she had such a bad start in life before you got her. How long ago did she give birth? I have had very big piggies in the past, and that weight (IMO) is fine. Moche (light brown piggie in my avatar) was bigger than that and very healthy!

Black animals are always difficult to photograph anyway. but i'm sure we would all be happy seeing as many as you could post of any of your three, they all look gorgeous :)

i shouldn't worry about her weight, Ellie my 6+ year old is about 1.2kg too & grace approx 18months is a chunking great 1.4+kg but she is big & long all over... maybe a little lazy to go with it too :whistle: but she seems healthy :clap:
I'm always more worried when they lose weight! :(

I'm no expert but should imagine science selective is a good quality food containing the correct balance of vitamins & minerals etc. a continuous supply of hay & fresh water & a reasonable quantity of assorted of various fresh veg daily.

should keep them healthy :)
well done on looking after her & getting her nails & mites etc sorted too. Sounds like she needed some TLC when you got her first, poor little piggy :(

Thank you she is in top condition and our vet praises us on her coat cause it is so shinny it makes it all worth while x
 
That is a gorgeous photo! I find it hard to photograph my black labrador too. I had some professional photos done of him once because of my ineptitude with the camera!
 
Love black piggies.Had a black male in my house for two nights that my friend and i got out of a bad situation.He had sapphire blue eyes sand totally fell in love with him.I have a lab Rottweiler mix that is hard top photograph add she has dark eyes, you can never see her features
 
She is absolutely gorgeous, as are your other 2.

As the others have said her weight is fine, it just means there is a bit more of her to love.
 
:D:lol!:i would not worry about her weight, she is a beautiful girl and is very cheeky from the pics, my boys vary from, 767g, to 1300g, these are my adult weights, the lowest weight belongs to my 9 year old seth, who eats like a horse, he is just an old man, piggies come in large to small figures, i love them no matter what, some are on a diet, hehe
 
She's super cute! I think her weight is okay- some are bigger built than others. My larger pig is almost three pounds, and the other is over two in spite of having some health issues that have kept her from getting back to full weight. Neither are obese- they are just solid pigs.
