Over the past month or so, I have noticed bright orange wee patches on the sawdust, usually after the piggies have been outside eating grass. I didn't know which one was producing this odd coloured wee as when I checked them, they all had clean areas :p

But today, I lifted Marge out of the run and saw that she has orange around the fur of her parts, so obviously she is the one with the problem.

Here are some pics I took.

The colour is a brighter orange in person, but I hope this gives you an idea of what it is? :p

I have no clue what could be causing this odd coloured wee, it doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally, but obviously, when the cage floor has been heavily 'trafficked' you can't always see the wee. However, UTI has crossed my mind, but I haven't had a piggy that has suffered from this before so I don't know what I am looking out for. Does this look like blood in urine? Or is it just an odd colour caused by a lot of grass? Because I know excesses of particular foods can affect the appearance of their urine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you x

No, that doesn't look like UTI; rather than food stained pee from carrots or peppers. Sometimes, intensive staining can be due to build up of bacteria in the wake of an illness.

If you worried, you can have the urine tested for blood; but the presence of blood is not due to the colouring.

Bloody urine is rather pinkish or maroon in tone, not orange.
