Is this fungal?

Got some awful news she’s made her skin so sore. Is there anything I can do? Does she need an emergency vet?

I’m devastated. I don’t want her to be in pain, can I bandage or anything? I have leucillin?
I don’t feel able to provide advice on what to do, I don’t think bandaging is the answer. Do you have any saline or sterile water you could wash the area with, just tip it over? Maybe contact the vets for advice?

Another thing to do, which isn’t helpful at this time of night, is throw away the hay you are using and get some fresh put in and change the bedding.

I have changed all bedding and bought new hay.
I thought bandaging probably wasn’t the best idea but don’t want her to hurt herself. Leucillin is a bit like saline

You can gently clean the sore spot with a homemade saline solution by mixing 1 pint of cooled boiled water from the kettle with 1 teaspoon of salt to prevent infection
Just let the boiled water cool down before applying it obvs :mal:

I will do that.

Do you think she needs any pain relief tomorrow?

She might need some, how is she in herself? My boy went all quiet (he’s usually a chatter box). If your worried at all contact the vets again. The problem is that the sores are now open and bleeding there’s more chance of infection so you will need to keep a close eye on her. Be careful not to wash off the ivermectin.

I don’t think she’s herself but it could be the shock of going to the vets? As her cagemate is also quiet today.

She usually munches her lettuce but instead she hid her head under it and closed her eyes :(

Poor piggy she looks very sore, I would maybe phone the vet again and see if she needs some pain relief or a sedative to stop her scratching herself...

That's the one! These poorly piggies are expensive aren't they, we've bought F10 disinfecting hand gel, antifungal laundry detergent, antifungal shower gel, and a big pack of critical care feed and syringes this week as well as paying the vet bills, all because of new little ringworm infected piggy Blodwen!
That ringworm is a gold digger lol

I think I might do, the scratching seems to have stopped this morning and she’s eating lots and lots of hay just not squeaking as much or eating her veggies.

I’ve got her dominant cagemate on my lap so she can eat in peace instead of having her veggies stolen but she seems a bit disinterested in them

Also I cleaned the wounds last night and they seem a bit better this morning and I’ve cleaned them again and trimmed her hair around them to stop hairs getting stuck. She had gorgeous corkscrew hair a few days ago

EDIT: she’s just came over to the side of the cage to look for her friend so I’ve popped them back together 😀

How is she, did you manage to get to the vets?

Didn’t get to the vets in the end as they advised just letting her settle and keeping an eye! She’s back to herself today demanding food every time she sees me, doesn’t seem to be scratching and I’m checking/cleaning the open wounds which have now mostly scabbed over.

I’ve ordered the F10 disinfectant and a wound spray that also kills mites incase we’re unlucky enough for it to happen again
