image.webp I'm a first time guinea owner, I get my pigs in October but looking around at hay another piggy related items, I saw this hay it was the only hay they had, is this the standard kind of hay?

I would guess that's Meadow hay as it doesn't say on the bag. Either Meadow hay or Timothy hay is the usual hay of choice :)

Looks like Meadow hay to me too, is ok to feed but I try to just use that as a base and then add more interesting ones on top. I get mine from www.thehayexperts.co.uk

Hi, and welcome. Good quality Feeding hay should be green not brown. Many of us on here use an online hay supplier called...hay for pets. A huge 9.kg bag is £16 and is lasting me between 3-4 months storing it properly is key. Keep you hay in a dry, damp free place in a pillow case or duvet cover. This company they do smaller bags too :)

I thought it was a bit cheap, £3 for 2 bags. I will buy it online like you say, how long will it stay fresh for if I buy the 9kg, we have a weatherproof shed we got last week so I could store it there?

Hi, I'm not sure how long it will keep fresh for sorry, I check my hay before I give it to my boys. Heres the bale as it came to me and how I store it (the bale fills two of these fabric storage bins). I use the lingis hay from hay for pets it smells lovely, they do meadow and Timothy too :)
Cheep hay is often very poor quality and you have to be aware there is hay mites etc. My fellas have not had any problems since I started them on this hay :).
