Yesterday I noticed that Delilah had a bit of a scurfy patch on her back and her bum was a bit whiffy so I bathed all 3 girls today. I was massaging the shampoo into Flumpet's back and realised that on her white fur I could see loads of little brown specks appearing. There were hundreds dotted throughout her fur and seemed to be lifting off her skin with the rubbing. The flecks didn't move and her skin looks healthy.
As we were drying her my friend combed her fur and got most of it out. We also combed Delilah and Minx (who had already been bathed) and they both had the same but it wasn't visible against their darker hair.
Nome of them seem sensitive to me touching them and I haven't noticed any great scratching.
I didn't think to take a pic of Flumpet's 'dirt' when I was bathing her so just took a quick photo now as she still has some left in her fur. What do you think? Is it just dirt or am I missing something obvious? :{
It doesn't look much in the photos but it was all through her hair. :(

It could be dirt or flea dirt (flea droppings). If there is any more of the dirt, then put it on some paper with a bit of water and kinda drag it and see if there is a streak of red, that would be blood and it would be flea droppings.

Also check around for fleas, check on the tummy, under the armpits, under the throat, and on the back near the bum. Fleas are tiny little brownish things that will scurry away when you move the fur to see them, or hop away.

Hopefully it's just dirt. I have no idea if guinea pigs can get fleas . . . ?

I've checked it wasn't flea dirt already. No red streaks on the damp kitchen roll and they're bigger flecks than I would associate with flea dirt and more brown in colour. We checked all 3 pigs and couldn't see anything moving.

I'm going to give them all another brush tomorrow and a good check over again.

Well that's good. :) If the dirt doesn't appear again, then maybe it was just dirt. Sorry I can't be of any more help and hopefully it was just dirt :)
