Is This Just Purring?

My guinea pig's never made this sound before. I think it might just be purring, but I'm worried. He's been making it the past few days while he eats when I take him out of his cage. Any thoughts?
 
Hi and welcome. It doesn't sound like purring to me, not a 100% anyway, to me it sounds like a URI (respiratory infection). Could it be that he does make that sound without eating but you don't hear it? My advice is to get your piggy checked out by a cavy savvy vet. Just a thought, does your piggy make that noise when just eating veggies? The reason I ask is perhaps if the veg is cold because it's come straight from the fridge. It happened to me in my early cavy keeping days. Lesson learnt!
 
With my piggie, when I used to pet her, she would make that sound. Maybe Your pig has an acccent! (lol) It could be her way of telling you she likes/dislikes something. Get her checked though, better safe than sorry!
