is this mite treatment good

he is 950 grams now :) getting big...just kicked off because he had to get weighed....i would take him to vets no questions but people on here seem to treat successfully at home and i know our vets are a total rip off
 
I used it on my 2 piggys and it worked great :D
I wasn't sure exactly what problem they had but it was either a fungal infection or mites and this treatment worked. I also used the johnsons incecticide shampoo beforehand as well.
My two didn't like me applying the stuff but I don't really know why, it was only a few drops on the neck:))
Just read the instructions well re weight and dosage ect
 
My rescue pig responded very well to having this on her. rolleyes Her mites have cleared up nicely and fast. Just make sure you do repeat the dosage to kill off any mites that hatch from the eggs . . .:)>>>

Others on the forum have used the Beaphar product. Also Xeno (if naboo had been under 800g then would have suggested xeno 450). The active ingredient is ivectermin. Make sure you do the follow up treatments. Sometimes 3 treatments are needed.
I would avoid Johnson's spot on as it has some very negative reviews.

I've used the Beaphar with good results, good luck in clearing your babies problem
 
I have used Beaphar, personally prefer to recommend the Xeno though (Xeno 450 for pigs over 800g) as dosing seems to be a bit more accurate.

Do repeat the dose after 7-14 days (10 being the usual), and then a few days after the last dose bath Naboo to wash off any debris/dead parasites, as this waste can continue to irritate piggies skin even after the mites have been killed off.

Doh! I got it the wrong way round. So xeno 50 is for pigs under 800g, and xeno 450 for over. Should have gone and looked it up. mallethead
 
Ohh I'm glad I found this post as I was wondering the same. I used it on my rescue pig as he had some sores on his back and it seems to have worked brilliantly. He also had really sharp nails which I clipped too so I'm not sure if it was just that his nails were so sharp that caused the cuts or mites. So I did both to be on the safe side.:)
 
bath either 2 days before or 2 days after.

I have used it and it works good. Mine were great after this.
 
Even if you bath before, do bath a couple of days after the final dose - it's good to wash off anything the mites leave behind. :)
