Yesterday the 4 babies were 3 weeks old so they were moved away from their mum and half sister. They moved into a big cage so i can keep a close eye on them and their weights until 2 of them leave for a new home. Peter who had the snip went back in with 2 sow and there is a lot of grumbling and he keep trying to get his way :p with the sows.

Is this normal? he had the snip 12 weeks ago, would have gone in sooner but the cage wasnt big enough for him plus mum & 5 babies.

It is normal. He is probably worse at the moment because he has only just started living with the sows so it should calm down after a while.

Neutered boars do still have the "urge" and will still mount sows, however they usually get fed up quickly and decide to have a nap instead! :))

Castration does not alter a boars natural behaviour just removes his ability to make babies his behaviour is completey normal for a boy :)

My Frankie tries to romance Dexter through the cage bars. It's not dominance behaviour - Frankie's different voices are very distinctive and you know when it is dominance and when it is flirtatious rumbling! He flirts with anything and everything including, as said, his neighbour Dexter. He was neutered last year by the rescue. He's a funny pig.
