cookie doesn’t ever wee when she’s cuddling with you and she seemed to today and it had a white stain in it. is this something to worry about?

It's looks like calcium peed out. What veg are you feeding? How many pellets per day? And do you have hard tap water?

It's not a massive worry if it's not gritty, it's gross, but try rubbing it between two fingers and see if it's gritty.

I agree. Do check if it is gritty.
As mentioned above, keep an eye that you aren’t feeding too much calcium rich veg. Kale, spinach, parsley and other calcium rich veg should only be fed once or twice a week. Filtering your tap water if you live in a hard water area will also go a long way towards ensuring your piggy isn’t taking in too much calcium

she has kale in the morning and pepper at dinner. she has little other stuff in between and her bowl is always filled per day with pellets cause she shares with our other one. i’m not sure about the tap water.

You only need two tablespoons per day ( one per pig). I don't worry if one is getting a bit more than the other, there's only so much I can control. and stop doing kale everyday, if you have hard water( can see crust round tap ends) run It through a brita filter first 👍. I stick to this and all is good.

You will always see a few white stains that are normal, but this should stop it being so thick 🙂

Kale is too high in calcium to be fed every day. Once or twice a week only.
And as above, they should not have constant access to pellets all the time. One tablespoon per pig per day and then remove the bowls. The only food they should have constant access to is hay. It needs to be the biggest part of their diet, 85%, and should not be filling up on veg or pellets (they are purely supplementary).

I give my boys about an hour (sometimes less) to eat their pellets and then their bowls are taken away whether they have eaten them all or not, and no more pellets until 8am the next morning

A good way round bowl hogging is to scatter feed pellets, gives a bit of enrichment too and let's the pigs both be able to forage for them seperatly. This is how I got round my sow bowl hogging

Hi!

It looks like excess calcium has been excreted. Check whether it is powdery (just calcium) when dry or has little sharp crystals in it when it has dried.

An occasional calcium pee is nothing is nothing to worry about; it is the normal way the body is excreting any excess calcium in the diet. If you are seeing calcium pees nearly every day, then you may want to readjust your diet to a lower calcium one.

If you have sharp crystals in the pee, then please have the bladder checked by your vet.
Please check your water hardness and filter your water if you are living in a medium to hard water area; the latter can really make a difference.
Keep in mind that more calcium can come in the water and via the pellets than by the veg; please do not overfeed pellets and veg (they should only make 15% of the daily food intake; pellets only one tablespoon per guinea pig per day. Veg and pellets are more in the way of a daily treat and not what a guinea pig is mainly eating.
Please be aware that unlimited hay should make 80% of the daily food intake. it is what guinea pigs really live on and that crucial for healthy teeth, a healthy digestion and long term health; it can also add 1-2 years to your guinea pigs' life span. The more pellets you feed, the less your piggies will eat.

thank you so much everyone for the help. we’ve noticed it’s powdery and most likely to be what everyone has said. we will cut down on certain foods and only give them sometimes. we also think it’s only happened twice and she’s had a lot of grass before hand, it also never affects faith (our other one) so she just might have too much of it.

Grass is really good for them

Grass is actually good for guinea pigs; it is high in vitamin C and good for the teeth, too! ;)

Plus some piggies are just more prone to certain problems.
We have 3 piggies and all of them get fed the exact same diet, but only Ruby has had bladder issues of excess calcium resulting in sludge.
