everytime i go out to feed the piggies the baby piggy goes mad, squeels i have noticed daddy (or at least i think he is) pushes baby way a lot and they fight over water daddy gets it first, i had\fed him yesterday and nearly had my hand off ? am i just not feeding them enough or is baby being pushed out ?

i feed them a bowl of food and veg in the morning do i need 2 bowls ? bowl holds about 1 handful and a bit ? daddy pig doesnt do this at all

I can only suggest that you provide them with a water bottle and bowl just incase baby pig is being pushed out. Daddy pig is probably trying to show baby pig who is the boss. Good luck x

hiya thank you.can use regular kitchen scales ? if i weigh him and post it can you tell me if his weight is ok ? or tell me what it should be ?

just the squealing every time i go to feed,is that him just letting me know he is there or saying hello ?

Scales

Yup these are your regular kitchen scales: Take a look. I do it in lbs and oz then convert on my phone rolleyes As you see piggy not impressed :)

mine would hate me, what do i do if i wegh him and he is under weight due to daddy eating most of the food, how do i get his weight back up, i dont have a spare hutch?

Can you put in two bowls of food, duplicate everything, even 2 water bottles, so dad and baby can each be feeding/drinking at the same time, without one having to wait until the other is finished.

I had a worry with one of mine where one of the pair seemed to be eating more than the other. The greedy one came out of the cage and had lap time with me, whilst the smallest one stayed in the cage with a bowl of veggies to herself. Two happy piggies! This worked, but they have sorted themselves out now thankfully, and both pushing their way to the dish to get their share.

thanks for all your advice i found the baby dead yesterday :( i feel awfull, like i didnt act quick enough :( wen i went to bed that night he was fine, i got up in the morning he was dead and the water bottle was on the floor, i think they migt have been fighting over it and it fell off, i havent stoped beating myself up about it, i am going to have to tell my daughter soon, i was at the petshop last night tryimng to find one to replace bobo so i didnt have to tell minie, if in a week i get hermione a new piggie how is it best i introduce the 2 ?

I am so sorry to hear about the baby :0 Do not beat yourself up about it though as none of it was your fault. There is no evidence to suggest that the baby died due to the dad pushing him out. He could have had something else wrong with. RIP Baby pig xx

thanks hun, daddy pig seems uneffected by it all, i made him a little shellter for the run, out of a shoe box, would a new piggie next week be to early for him ?

To be honest, I don't think it can be too early and I think the sooner the better. Have you thought about going to a rescue as there are thousands of piggies looking for homes? You could even take your loan boar along so he can choose his own cage mate xx

i dont know where there are any near us, my brother is going to pets at home next week to get a fish tank, and said if minnie would like another we could get it then, i will amke sure its male do you think the people in the shop willl mind if i ask to double check its a boy ?

i would love to go to a rescue home, its where i got thease 2 from,

If you get your pig from P@H you have every right to ask as many questions as you like. In fact, the more questions asked, the better. I brought one of mine from there and I was in the store for nearly an hour asking questions. I made sure that more than one member of staff checked to make sure she was female. She also had a free health check at their in store vets x

I know they don't look happy but they all look so cute on the scales :)

thank you :D daddy pig appears much happier on his own, which worries me some what he is still very nervous of me, but i find if i grab him fast he isnt too bad, he has made very close friend with our male rabbit, troy got through the divide and i was so panicked thinking i would find another dead piggy but they were just cuddled up together, daddy pig has a little shelter he can escape to (i made it out of a shoe box lol)
